Autumnal cock ups

Postby Bananaman » Tue Nov 03, 2009 3:19 am

I don't have photo shop or any programme similar - it's on my list of things to do. But is there any way (without buying software) to ermm HD these photos?

These are just mess around photos so do what you can with them.

I was hoping to keep the amazing colours of the trees and the brilliant contrast of the fallen leaves on the grass in the foreground. But I've lost the sharpness of the wall and the darkness of the sky doing it.

I hope this makes sense and doesn't sound too poncy.

Had a quick play in PSP (Corel paint shop pro),nothing too drastic ...just sharpened slightly and had a ply with brightness:

You can download trial versions of psp...not sure whether you can get full shareware versions but will have a look :)

Results from Adobe Photoshop Elements 7...

...which has an "intellegent" selection tool which was used to isolate the wall. After adjusting hue/saturation/sharpness on the wall, simple click inverted the selection allowing hue/saturation to be adjusted for everything else. Finishing up with the "sky touch up brush".

OK PSE7 costs <>£50 with the newer version 8 <>£70. You pay full whack at ADOBE but Amazon and others are cheaper. It pays to shop around :)
Did try with GIMP which is free but just couldn't get it to do what I wanted :? Probably me not the program

Sorry for the very late reply - thanks all.

If Constable was alive today, he would be very proud of his charges. All of you.

This may be of help. It gives many free programmes that may serve your purpose.
