"Passages" Shipwreck

Postby Cret » Thu Jul 22, 2010 2:23 pm

How do everyone

I went out with my pal last Friday night and we went in search of a shipwreck called the Passages, which is directly out from Jurby Church, on the beach.

Had to plan this trip since I had to get the right combination of free time (don't we all!) along with a low tide and sunset.
Sadly the sunset wasn't that much cop but I think some of the pics I took have turned out ok.

Hope you like some of these anyway folks:

I did two versions of the following shot. One with full bw and a touch of colour popping, then I did this one.
I know some people don't like selective colour shots and they can look a bit 'old hat' at times possibly, so this one has a low level of bacground colour, but the seaweed and rust patches brought up to stand out more.

Hi Cret

Excellent shots, the sun set is excellent. Right place at the right time.

I know what you mean, selective colours are not my cup of tea. However, you have got those spot on.

Thanks Lloyd. Kind of you to say so.

I thought it would look quite good in this instance, although to be honest a big part of the reason I did them like that was because I'm very new to doing that kind of thing in Photoshop so I want to practise a lot, then when in future I see a scene that might actually benefit from it I'll already know how to do it right.

Absolutely brilliant shots there Cret!
I've never found this wreck, but now that you've told me exactly where it is, i'll be taking a trip out there sometime soon. You've captured it brilliantly.

Thanks for the kind comments Chunky. Very flattering.

Yeah the wreck is very easy to find as long as the tide is mostly out. I've heard that you can get caught on that bit of coast at high tide so be careful if you don't want a swim with your gear, but I was there for a couple of hours probably around low tide with the sea well at bay.
