  Hi

My Grandfather, William Killey Corrin (1918 - 2007) was the son of Amy Isabella Corrin nee Killey (1882 - 1922). She was from the Isle of Man and daughter of James & Elizabeth Killey. James was a Blacksmith from Laxey / Lonan and his father was a lead miner.

Ring any bells for anyone?

I'm not sure how my Killey family relates to anyone out there, but I know that my grandfather, 'William' was born on the Isle of Man and left with his mother, Georgina Killey, when he was young after his father's death. His father was also called William and I'm pretty sure he died from TT Motorbike Racing. Any information or connections would be interesting, thanks.

Hello Killey researchers--Am descended from a Thomas Killey b. abt. 1793 and Elizabeth Kewney from Lezarye, Isle of Man. The were in Ontario, Canada by 1841, when their son Thomas Killey married Elizabeth Whittle in that same year. I think Thomas Killey's (b. abt. 1793) parents were William Killey and Ann Gill. Have done lots of research on my particular line from Canada to the United States. If anyone is descended from Thomas Killey and Elizabeth Whittle of Ontario, Canada, maybe I can help. Just a note-my page hasn't been updated in a few years! But it's still a starting point if nothing else. My family always pronounced the name KILL ee. Distant cousins report that their father & uncles always bickered over the correct pronunciation--some saying 'KILL ee" and others saying "KYE lee" and yet others saying "KELLEY." Thanks for this site Peter--always good to find others of this surname.

I have the family tree of Killeys from
Lambfell Beg, Kirk German, I.O.M., going back to circa 1640. My Great Grandfather, William Richard, emigrated to Cumbria (Cumberland) in latter half of 1900 hundreds. My Grandfather William born 1876, a plumber came to Manchester in about 1897/98. The old Family homestead a farm house at Lambfell Beg still survives. The last known information I have was that in 1989 the owners were two brothers named Quirk whose descendants, possibly their Grandfather bought the place from my Grandfather in 1928. Following considerable storm damage, grandfather, who then lived in South Manchester, could not afford the repairs and hence the sale to the Quirks. I have only just started further research in to the Family history. a lot of the information I have was sent to my father by Mrs EM Howard of Portland Oregon USA following her research into the Killey Family history. Keen to hear from anyone interested. Mervyn

I'm researching the family and relations of Sara Elizabeth Killey who was born circa 1879 and eventually died in Douglas, IOM in 1950.
Her mother was born Maria Teare (granddaughter of the great Fairy Doctor Charles Teare, daughter of 'Charley Chalse' Teare) and married Daniel Killey - a coachman - and they lived at Ballavar, Port Soderick.
Sara also practised herbal medicine, following the family tradition. I would be very grateful to know of any living relatives!

My branch of the Killey family would also appear to be different. I have been able to take them back to Richard Killey born c1780, Liverpool, Merseyside and his wife Jane Griffith born c1783. Known children are John c1804, Richard c1807, Henry c1810 and William c1815.

Connecting families include Gate, Fairclough and Mulcare.

Have heard a family story regarding a family of fishermen from the Isle of Man and how most of the boys drowned in a tragedy at sea. The younger members of the family moved to Liverpool and we apparently descend from them.

I think we may be a different branch of Killeys. My research has shown my great grandfather was born in Lonan and move to Douglas when an adult. I was born in Douglas and left the Island when 17.
I'd be pleased to hear from anyone who thinks they may be from the same branch of Killey's
